Climate Change: A drastic change in the natural environment brings out the vulnerability of the power sector
Adaptation and mitigation actions are complementary approaches that can jointly reduce the costs and risks associated with climate change and extreme weather. “Mitigation” involves reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2), which has the greatest impact on global warming. “Adaptation” involves anticipating the adverse effects of climate change and taking appropriate action to prevent or minimize the damage; adaptation measures cultivate the ability to respond flexibly to any change (i.e., to enhance “climate resilience”).
